Pilar Miralles
​​Literary

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 2002 with her husband and their six-month-old daughter. A passionate admirer of her national culture and a porteña at heart, she has been writing since 2018. Her first short story, Desde el Final, received an Honorable Mention in the 62nd International Poetry and Narrative Contest, “Ensamblando Palabras 2018,” and was later published in the anthology Nostalgia Bajo Cero, which itself received an award in the International Poetry and Narrative Contest and was published in 2020.

She works primarily in short stories and has published articles in online outlets, focusing mainly on women’s issues, including contributions to the online magazine Bikiniburka.org. Her story No eres lo que te hicieron was selected for inclusion in the anthology Mujeres Empoderadas_ Vol. IV, which was presented at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair on May 14, 2023.

Her story El Sillón was chosen to be part of the anthology for the Ibero-American Book Fair in Canada in October 2023.

Pilar completed her first novel in 2024 and is currently working on a short story collection and her second novel. She graduated from the Creative Writing Certificate program at the University of Toronto in December 2024 and has also taken part in various writing workshops led by Agustina Caride, Elaine Vilar Madruga, Alejandra Kamiya, and at Casa de Letras (La gramática soñada), with Pablo Ali.
