Mexican-born artist Melina Cossío has lived and refined her artistic skills across Mexico, Chile, Finland, and Canada, experiences that infuse her oil paintings with a distinctly global perspective. Inspired by roads, urban landscapes, and the shifting character of new cities, her work explores the emotional resonance of human-made environments as they intersect with the natural world.

Melina’s creative process begins outdoors with plein-air sketches, where she captures the immediate emotional connection to a place.

She then takes her photographs to further develop composition and detail, finalizing each piece in her studio through a layered, intuitive approach. Using glazes, gestural lines, and traditional brushstrokes, she builds atmospheric oil paintings that highlight light, depth, and movement.

More than depictions of physical landscapes, her paintings evoke a feeling—inviting viewers to connect with the mood and atmosphere within each scene. Through rich colour palettes and intricate textures, she creates open, inclusive spaces that transcend barriers.
